I know this isn't the right place to ask but can anyone tell me who writes the Batman stories from Detective Comics n°285 to 326? Thank you very much for any help, IP: Logged |

Au contrair! This is JUSt the place to ask. Any minute, someone is going to have the answer for you. The posters here know everything! IP: Logged |

OK. I got curious. I checked http://darkmark6.tripod.com/indexintro.html for the answers. Det. 285 "Mystery of the Man-Beast" is credited to Bill Finger. Det. 326 "Captives of the Alien Zoo" has no writers credit. IP: Logged |

Thanks dude, but where did you find these golden age books, all I find is Silver Age stuff!?! ROCK ON!! IP: Logged |

That is the Silver Age. Golden Age ends (arguably) around 1951. '55 at the latest. IP: Logged |

Ok, but Silver Age Batman only starts at Detective Comics #327 and/or Batman #164. Well I that's the way I think... you got the Golden Age Batman (1939 - 1957), the Goofy Batman (1957 - 1964) and the Silver Age Batman (1964 - 1970) I know, I know, the Silver Age started in mosts books by 1955 and 1956 BUT Batman only changed IN 1964, so Detective Comics n°285 (1961) and 326 (early 1964) are still from Batman's Golden Age. That's the way I think. I'm out. ROCK ON, DUDE!! IP: Logged |

GCD credits Dave Wood as writer of the Alien Zoo story in 326. -Scott IP: Logged |

The New Look Batman started in 1964, but I think the silly sf Batman ought to be considered Silver Age as well. Of course, this illustrates the faults in the metallic system we so badly overuse... IP: Logged |

The metallic system is useless for characters like Batman. Just say "old look" (everything before May, 1964) and "new look" (everything after up to October, 1969)--after that you're on your own. If I had the time I would try to look up the GCD credits for all those issues, but I'm kinda pressed for time. The GCD can be found at www.comics.org I'd expect Bill Finger and Edmond Hamilton wrote their fair share of those stories. IP: Logged |

Nikki Six, I skimmed your question a little too quickly and just filled in Old Dude's blank for 326. Many stories in that range are unidentified by the online indexes. GCD and Dark Mark name only Bill Finger and Dave Wood as writers in that period, Dave Wood's first story being 319. Bob Hughes posts here occasionally and might have some educated guesses about the other stories. -Scott IP: Logged |
